If you don’t know by now, we at Ducharme Motors have plenty of 2015 Ford F-150s ready for you to get your hands on! But how does Ford’s best selling truck in Canada for the last nearly 50 years fair in extreme weather?
Let’s talk about that.
Ford ensured that scrupulous testing be done on this years’ F-150, most of which took place right at the central lab at Ford Headquarters. Firstly, on some past models of the F-150, the exterior badges would start to fade after around 5 years of sun exposure. So Ford used a Thermatron to generate roughly 3000 hours of sun exposure in one test and found that the new badges will not fade easily.
To test the durability and strength of the new military grade aluminum body in extreme weather conditions, Ford took over 12,000 hours in a variety of tests, which Ford’s Chief Engineer Peter Reyes calls the top-ten Torture Tests; and by the time the new model was released, they had driven a total of 10 MILLION Miles – 16-ish million Kilometers for us in the north – in extreme heat and extreme cold conditions, just because Reyes wanted to be undoubtedly sure that this was, “The toughest, most durable Ford F-150 yet, even while being about 700 pounds lighter.”
